The Declaration of Independence for the United States of America is an inspired writing from our founding fathers. Not as inspired as the Scriptures of the Bible, but nonetheless still inspired by the Spirit of God upon the lives of our founding fathers. It is a document that stands for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as God given rights.
May we each look at life as a great gift from God, from the unborn infant, to the aged and dying. The dignity of human life is centered in the concept and the truth that all people are created in the image of God Himself. Too many people are demanding their rights and not recognizing their responsibilities to respect others as being created in the image of God.
It is not our opinions that need to be spread as much as the message of God’s love. We have reached a level of hostility and incivility in this country. This is a time when Christians should stand up and lead the way through love, grace, kindness, respect, and concern for all. Our political views should never supersede our religious convictions and the truth of God’s Word.
If Christians in this country were as quick and ready to spread the gospel message from their mouths, and to declare the truth of God’s love, instead of political points and posturing, we would have a different culture. I call upon all of us who claim to be people of faith, to act, to behave, and to treat others with the God given dignity that they deserve, whether they act like they deserve it or not. We are called upon to lead the way with and by our faith. Thank God that He has given to us a country where we have these liberties to express our faith.
